Portland obtained her BS degree in physical therapy from New York University in 1993 and has been working in the field for 30 years. She started her PT career working for the Denver Broncos Sports Medicine facility in Colorado. Working directly with athletes promoted Portland to focus in the orthopedic field of physical therapy. After moving to the Bay Area, she worked in skilled nursing while simultaneously building an outpatient orthopedic practice within a rehabilitation facility.
Portland's unique experience and training in PT combined with working alongside orthopedic surgeons, led her to open up an occupational medicine facility at United Airlines maintenance base in San Francisco. She then pursued her dream of building her own successful private practice based in San Bruno, CA in 2000 that enabled thousands of patients to fully recover from injuries.
After selling the practice to spend more time with her growing family, Portland shifted her focus to supporting the POA doctors she had worked with for years. After assisting with setting up the PT clinic, she then took on the role of PT Director at POAPT. In addition to overseeing the clinical side of the PT clinic, Portland's expanded responsibilities include marketing where she leverages the extensive existing relationships with local doctors, as well as building new relationships for the clinic.
